(VOVworld) – A launch ceremony sending SMS to support a campaign titled “Connecting the East Sea” opened in Hanoi on Monday. The campaign co-organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Vietnam Red Cross, Vietnam Television and the Voice of Vietnam, will last from September 15 to October 14. There are three ways to donate, including sending text messages to 1400, worth 10,000 VND each, donating communication equipment, and transferring money to the Vietnam Red Cross bank account. Le Nam Thang is Deputy Minister of Information and Communications: “The campaign aims to mobilize people from all walks of life, including overseas Vietnamese, domestic and international organizations in Vietnam to donate in-kind or money by sending messages in order to help fishermen buy communication devices. The campaign will last for one month, and aims to raise a minimum of 10 billion VND”.

At the ceremony, the organizing board said it has received more than 186 million VND in 2 days. The board will announce the campaign’s result after 1 month of implementation.
