Copenhagen named World Capital of Architecture for 2023
(VOVWORLD) -Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, was officially designated as World Capital of Architecture for 2023 by UNESCO at a ceremony in the City Council on Tuesday.

Around 300 architecture-related events are planned to take place in Copenhagen under the theme "Sustainable future - Leaving no one behind". The 2023 World Congress of the International Union of Architects (UIA) is due for July and more than 10,000 professionals are expected to attend.
Every three years, as recommended by the International Union of Architects, UNESCO selects a city that has achieved certain success in urban planning and sustainable architecture to light the torch of the Union’s World Congress in what has been named the World Capital of Architecture. Before Copenhagen, the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro was the World Capital of Architecture.
