(VOVworld) – Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on Thursday worked with the authorities in Da Nang city to review 10 years of implementing the Politburo’s resolution on developing Da Nang as part of the national industrialization and modernization process.


Mr. Trong emphasized the city’s potential advantages in economic and political geography, land, human resources, and history. The city’s economic scale is small with poor competitiveness, and investment in production lags behind infrastructure upgrading. Mr. Trong pointed to some declining indexes and the slow progress made in some key infrastructure projects. The Politburo asked Da Nang to be fully aware of its role in the central and central highlands regions, analyze its strengths and shortcomings, and forecast future development in order to be ready to take appropriate measures. The Politburo noted that the local authority should focus on developing Da Nang as a major city in the country, a socio-economic hub of the central region, and a strategic city in terms of national transportation and defense. The Politburo also asked Da Nang city to review and better manage its development projects to align with the region’s development plan.
