The Kremlin on Thursday said Moscow remains the only venue under consideration for a possible face-to-face meeting between Putin and Zelensky.
"It was Zelensky who requested the meeting, and it is he who has, in fact, initiated it. In response to this, President Putin told him that yes, we are ready for a meeting, but only in Moscow. This is a crucial point that must be remembered," Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said.
Peskov confirmed Friday that US President Donald Trump “made a personal request” to Putin to refrain from military actions until Sunday in order to create favorable conditions for negotiations. Moscow agreed to this proposal to facilitate the negotiation process, he added.
President Zelensky said Ukraine is ready to cease attacks on energy infrastructure, provided that Russia takes corresponding steps.
Diplomatic efforts to seek a peaceful solution to the conflict in Ukraine are being revived. The Kremlin spokesman has said that the next round of talks between Russia, the United States and Ukraine in the UAE is scheduled for Sunday, aiming to find a viable solution to the conflict in Ukraine.
