E-commerce boosts Southeast Asia's economy

(VOVWORLD) - ASEAN Online Sale Day 2021, the biggest online shopping event ever for ASEAN consumers, attracted more than 300 businesses and organizations doing business on digital platforms.

This is the second time ASEAN member countries have organized an ASEAN Online Sale Day, an initiative first proposed by Vietnam in 2020.

The annual event promotes international e-commerce to help small and medium-sized businesses publicize their products and survive the COVID-19 pandemic. The event was advertised in advance by e-commerce platforms and applications like Shopee, Lazada, Zalora, and JD.

A recent Lazada report said 52% of sellers in Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Singapore saw high revenue growth in the first half of 2021, and 70% expect that growth to increase by 10% in the third quarter.
