Eurogroup Chief: EU economy hit as in wartime
(VOVWORLD) - Eurogroup Chief Mario Centeno warned on Monday that under the coronavirus outbreak, the European economy is experiencing the equivalent of a war and that a long struggle lies ahead.
The epidemic hasn't yet peaked, Centeno said ahead of a Eurozone finance ministers video conference. He said the EU has taken the first steps of a long fight. Enforced containment measures are disrupting economies like in wartime, said Centeno, who is also Portugal’s Finance Minister.
