(VOVworld)- France wants to be a prior partner in Vietnam’s renewable energy development and climate change response. French Ambassador to Vietnam Jean Noel made the commitment at a conference in Hanoi on Tuesday, saying that French businesses will provide Vietnam with latest information on renewable energy, the application of new technologies and financial support.  Speaking at the event to share experience in renewable energy, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Le Duong Quang said that although the country has potential for renewable energy development, the investment in the sector is still not commensurate with its strength. He cited the low economic efficiency of renewable energy resources as well as barriers emerged from policies and technology application: “Despite potential in renewable energy, Vietnam has generated only 6.3% of its national grid from renewable sources with total installation output of up to 4000 MW. This mostly comes from small scale hydro power plants, 3700MW, wind farm 52MW, biogas 150MW and 18MW from other sources of renewable energy.”
