The image depicts a female vocalist called “ca nuong”, who sings and plays a wooden percussion instrument, and two male instrumentalists who produce the deep tone of a three-stringed lute and the strong sounds of a praise drum.

Google said in an introduction that Ca tru’s Founders Commemoration Day is a time to honor the genre widely considered to be Vietnam’s most revered traditional form of music. A style that fits somewhere in between the geisha ceremonies of Japan and the dramatic performances of opera, Ca tru’s unique sound has roots that stretch back to the 11th century, it said.

A representative of Google said that the move was to raise public awareness of traditional folk arts which are facing the risk of oblivion, as well as encourage the young generation to explore the unique and diverse cultural and art forms of Vietnam
