(VOV) – The Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations convened its 4th Congress and received the Labor Order, first class on Friday.

Over the last 5 years, the Union has been important for fostering friendship, unity, and cooperation between Hanoi and other cities worldwide. The Union’s main tasks are to promote Vietnam’s image and especially the capital, Hanoi. It also advocates support from its partners, and encourages overseas Vietnamese to contribute more to their motherland. Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party’s Committee, Tuong Phi Chien was speaking at the Congress. "The Union needs to step up the flow of information to international friends to give them a comprehensive and sufficient understanding of Vietnam. This will build trust and friendship and gain support for the city’s development. The Union also works to improve the country’s citizens awareness of Vietnam’s external policies."
