Hanoi’s Fatherland Front Congress calls for joint efforts to build civilized, modern capital

(VOVWORLD) - Hanoi’s Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee should continue to consolidate the great national unity bloc and build a cultural, civilized, modern, and happy capital city, said Do Van Chien, Chairman of the VFF’s Central Committee at the 18th Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee in Hanoi for the 2024-2029 tenure.

Also attending Friday’s event at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Cultural Palace were Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Secretary of the Hanoi Party’s Committee and 363 delegates from different social strata and religious groups, including  intellectuals, prominent individuals, and representatives from 30 district-level VFF Committees across Hanoi.

145 members were elected for Hanoi’s 18th VFF Committee for the 2024-2029 tenure. Nguyen Lan Huong was re-elected as its Chairwoman.

VFF Chairman Do Van Chien praised the city’s VFF Committee for its achievements in recent years. He said that the city’s Vietnam Fatherland Front committees at all levels should continue to work closely with the people; promote information technology application; adapt to a digital society; and strengthen communication on the culture and glorious  history of the capital city.

"It is necessary to promote self-reliance and the desire to contribute to the building of a cultural, civilized, modern, and happy Hanoi.”

Secretary of Hanoi’s Party Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai emphasized that the Congress marks a new milestone in promoting the potential, creativity, capacity, and intellect of people from all walks of life in building a “Cultural - Civilized - Modern” Hanoi. 

She urged the city’s VFF Committees at all levels to discover, introduce, and replicate effective models and methods through emulation movements and social activities. It is important to arouse citizens’ patriotism, love for Hanoi, creativity, and desire to build a prosperous and happy nation and a cultural, civilized, modern capital city. Social security, humanitarian, and charitable programs need to be more effective and practical, she said.

"It is necessary to promote city’s VFF Committee’s role in  realizing the motto ‘The people know, the people discuss, the people do, the people inspect, the people supervise, the people benefit.’ The committee should work with all levels and sectors to ensure social security and improve people’s life, so that ‘no one is left behind’," Ms. Hoai said.

In the spirit of “Solidarity - Democracy - Responsibility - Creativity - Development,” the three-day event, which concluded on Friday, called on people from all walks of life, ethnicities, and religions, the armed forces, and the Vietnamese community abroad to unite, promote patriotism and pride in their thousand-year-old capital city, improve production and learning, and achieve greater heights ahead of the nation’s anniversaries and towards the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
