Ho Chi Minh City targets annual GRDP growth rate of 9% by 2030

(VOVWORLD) - HCM city aims for an annual GRDP growth rate of 8.5 to 9%, according to a Prime Ministerial decision approving the municipal Master Plan until 2030, with a vision to 2050.

The city’s per capita GRDP is projected to be 14,800-15,400 USD by 2030.

Commercially, the goal is to make Ho Chi Minh City the e-commerce center of the southeast region, boost trade and sync it with industrialization, and maximize the benefits of globalization. Logistics services will be developed by strengthening regional connectivity and building strong enterprises.

Socially, the city’s population is predicted to be 11 million by 2030 and 14.5 million by 2050. Its Human Development Index (HDI) is over 0.85. The urbanization rate is over 90%. All communes are set to meet the new rural model standards. The city’s poverty line will be twice the national standard by the end of 2030, with basically no more poor households according to the national standard and less than 0.5% poor households according to the city's standard.
