Hue festival 2012 wraps up

(VOVworld)- The 2012 Hue Festival concluded yesterday with impressive cultural performances by artists from Vietnam and countries from five continents around the world. The large scale festival with the theme of "Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development: A Rendezvous of Historical Cities" featured a wide range of events such as art performances, culinary fairs and exhibitions reflecting Vietnamese people’s aspiration for peace. "The performances by art troupes honored traditional cultural values reflecting the solidarity, integration and development. The festival showed that Hue is a typical festival city and a major cultural and tourist center of Vietnam. The festival was praised for its both traditional and modern characteristics, safety and humanity features", said Mr. Ngo Hoa, Vice Chairman of Thua Thien Hue Provincial People’s Committee, the Chief Organizer..

Hue Festival attracted more than 2 million visitors including 80,000 foreigners, up 63% against last year. "I’m very happy because this was the first time a Venezuelan art troupe attended the Hue festival, where everyone are friends. At the festival, we had a chance to see performances by art troupes from other Latin American countries including Panama, Argentina, Mexico and Cuba. We are friends of Vietnam and are like family members. The applause by Vietnamese audiences encouraged our artists and reflected the friendship between Vietnam and Venezuela", said Venezuelan Ambassador to Vietnam Jorge Rondon Uzcategui.

The next Hue festival will open in the next two years.
