Hue to host first exhibition of King Ham Nghi’s artworks
(VOVWORLD) - The first-ever exhibition featuring King Ham Nghi’s paintings will open at Kien Trung place in Hue Imperial City on March 25, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center announced on Saturday.

Titled “Sky, Mountains, Water”, the exhibition will feature more than 20 of the King’s paintings created during his exile, marking the largest display of his works in Vietnam.
The pieces have been gathered from 10 private collections and co-curated by art researcher Ace Le and Amandine Dabat, a fifth-generation descendant of King Ham Nghi.
Ham Nghi (1871-1944), the eighth Nguyen Dynasty king, ruled briefly before launching the Can Vuong movement against French colonial rule in 1885. He was exiled to Algiers in 1889, where he embraced modern art styles.
Ham Nghi is recognized as one of Vietnam’s first modern artists.
