(VOVworld) – Thousands of people yesterday gathered in Cairo’s Tahrir Square to protest a new constitutional amendment, dissolution of parliament, and a possibility of forming a new constituent committee.  Protesters rejected recent decisions of Egypt’s Supreme council of the Armed Forces including the issue of addendum of the constitutional statement which intensifies the rights and power of the army and limits the power of the president. Most of protesters support Muslim Brotherhood candidate Mohammed Morsi, calling on the council to hand over power to Morsi. The protesters also gathered in the parliamentary house to refuse a decision of dissolving the office and demand the current constituent committee to be in place. A constitutional drafting committee was elected by the parliament last week, but it’s likely to be dispersed by recent decisions of the ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces. According to the addendum in the constitutional statement, the council will have the right to appoint a new constituent committee.

In another development, Egypt’s MENA news agency said that ousted President Hosni Mubarak was clinically dead before he was moved from the his detention center to a military hospital. Mubarak was sentenced to life imprisonment for his connection to the killing of protesters.
