Industry and Trade sector asked to sharpen competitiveness

The Ministry of Industry and Trade on Tuesday held a meeting to implement this year's tasks. Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung asked the ministry to focus on ways to maintain and  develop industrial production in parallel with restructure of the sector to sharpen competitiveness. He also urged the sector to make full use of advantages and potential, particularly political stability and the domestic market of 90 million population  for development. The PM said the whole sector needs to take drastic measures to contribute to macro-economic stabilization, inflation control and import surplus of below 10 percent of exports. Mr. Dung stressed: "The  industry and trade sector together with the entire nation should help ease difficulties, maintain growth, develop industrial production and restructure the national economy, including the restructure of every enterprise. The sector should make further efforts to improve product quality and competitiveness". 

The PM also asked the Ministry of Industry and Trade to reinforce market management to ensure the balance of supply-demand of goods. In addition, the sector is urged to continue protecting the legitimate rights of Vietnamese products overseas, negotiating for market expansion and fully tap the signed Free Trade Agreements.
