International community condemns Houthi attack on Abu Dhabi

(VOVWORLD) - UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan on Monday condemned the recent Houthi attacks in the capital of Abu Dhabi and pledged reprisals. He said the UAE reserves the right to respond to terrorist attacks.

Stephane Dujarric, chief spokesman for UN Seretary General Antonio Guterres said the UN chief is calling on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and avoid any escalation of the heightened tensions in the region.

US Security Advisor Jake Sullivan pledged to work with the UAE and other international partners to hold the Houthis accountable. The UK, France, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation strongly condemned the attacks on the UAE.

Israel and Tunisia promised to stand by the UAE and criticized actions threatening regional peace.

The Yemen-backed Houthis on Monday said they had conducted multiple ballistic missle and drone attacks against aiports and an oil refinery in the UAE. The group’s military spokesman Yahya Saree warned that if the UAE continues its hostility to Yemen, it will not be able in the future to withstand the coming strikes.
