Iran denies enriching uranium above 60%
(VOVWORLD) - Iran has rejected reports that it has enriched uranium to 84% purity, which is close to weapons grade, according to the official IRNA News agency.
Spokesperson for Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, Behrouz Kamalvandi, said on Monday that so far Iran has not made any attempt to enrich above 60%. The presence of particles above 60% enrichment does not mean production with an enrichment above 60%, he said.
Bloomberg News reported on Sunday that international atomic monitors in Iran detected uranium enriched at 84% last week. Weapons grade is around 90%.
