In an announcement on X social network early Sunday, Iran's mission to the United Nations said the retaliation for Israel’s air strike on Iran's diplomatic compound in Damascus on April 1 ended.

"The matter can be deemed concluded," it said. "However, should the Israeli regime make another mistake, Iran’s response will be considerably more severe." The Iranian mission warned the US to stay away from the current conflict.

According to a newly released announcement by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Iran launched more than 200 drone, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles, but most of them were intercepted. Several ballistic missiles reached Israeli territory, causing minor damage to an air base.

Israeli military radio cited an unnamed Israeli official as saying there would be a "significant response" to the attack. Israeli media said the country's War Cabinet held an emergency meeting early Sunday morning to discuss measures to respond to Iran's attack.

Along with Iran, many armed groups in the region have simultaneously launched long-range attacks against Israeli territory. The Israeli military said that the country's air defense radar system recorded a number of drones departing from Yemeni territory towards Israel last night. Regional media said that the Hezbollah forces in Lebanon launched dozens of rockets into the northern region of Israel.
