During a meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Hanoi on Friday, Lollobrigida said Vietnam has great potential and strengths in agriculture, affirming that Italy is ready to share and discuss with Vietnam experience, technology, machinery, and agricultural achievements. Italian universities are willing to increase cooperation in agriculture training for Vietnamese students, he added.         

At the meeting, Prime Minister Chinh suggested that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry of Italy effectively implement the Memorandum of Understanding on agriculture cooperation.

According to the Prime Minister, the two sides need to focus on cooperating in deep processing of agricultural products, transferring high technology, promoting innovation, digital transformation, green economy, circular economy in agriculture, connecting businesses of two countries, and developing agricultural economy. Vietnam is ready to welcome more presence of Italian agricultural products to serve Vietnamese consumers, he said.

The Prime Minister continued Vietnam is ready to act as a bridge and coordinator to promote the Development Partnership between Italy and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as well as promoting relations between Italy and African countries and other countries through a trilateral cooperation model to ensure food security.

Also on Friday afternoon, Head of the Party Central Committee’s External Relations Commission Le Hoai Trung received the Italian Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, Francesco Lollobrigida.
