(VOVworld) – Activities are underway in Laos to mark the 46th founding anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), August 8^th. The Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday hosted a meeting and demonstration in Patusay park in Vientiane. Lao Deputy Prime Minister cum Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongloun Sisoulith said during 16 years of its membership to ASEAN, Laos has actively participated in all activities and joined efforts with other members to maintain the solidarity for an ASEAN of sustainability and development. He reiterated Laos’ commitment to overcoming difficulties and challenges so as to join the ASEAN community by 2015 for the common goal of stability and development in Southeast Asia and the world.
