Leaders visit as Vietnam prepares to welcome Lunar New Year
(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited veteran revolutionaries on Tuesday, and presented gifts to disadvantaged and COVID-infected people in the north central province of Thanh Hoa ahead of Tet, the traditional Lunar New Year Festival.

Mr. Chinh urged speeding up vaccination, effectively implementing pandemic prevention and control and socio-economic recovery programs, safeguarding independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and maintaining political stability and security. He said greater attention should be given to building affordable houses for workers to ensure a happy Tet for them.

The same day, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue presented 400 Tet gift packages to frontliners in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, social policy beneficiaries, poor workers and households in Ho Chi Minh city.
Mr. Hue said the city is returning to the new normal, with the number of serious COVID-19 infections and deaths hitting a record low so far.
Earlier, Chairman Hue paid a pre-Tet visit to the police and medical frontliners in the southernmost province of Ca Mau. He applauded their efforts in disease prevention and control and ensuring political stability maintaining social law and order.
