Concluding the working session, Prime Minister Chinh said this is a key national project, approved by the National Assembly in 2015 and the Government in 2020, but some component projects only started in August 2023, and the first test flight was conducted in September 2025.

After more than two years, several components have been completed or are nearing completion, including the air traffic control center, runway, and apron, while the passenger terminal is in the final stages of construction. Other systems such as baggage handling, hangars, utilities, and internal transport infrastructure are being rapidly installed.
The Prime Minister noted that quality, technical and aesthetic standards, environmental landscape, safety, and the prevention of corruption and waste must be ensured. Planning for non-aviation facilities, for Long Thanh airport city, and for developing the aviation economy must be in place, according to PM Chinh.
