Participants included representatives from several embassies, development cooperation agencies, United Nations organizations, international banks, 12 medical universities, 7 hospitals and nine medical centers. Deputy Minister Le Quang Cuong said developing medical human resources plays an important role in improving the quality and efficiency of healthcare services. He added that this was one of the sector’s 7 priorities in the 2011-2016 period: “We attach great importance to human resource development. Many countries and international organizations have granted scholarships for Vietnamese health workers so that they can improve their professional and managerial skills and learn new technologies abroad. Ever year, hundreds of leading health experts and scientists come to Vietnam to share their expertise and help Vietnam improve its preventative medicine and medical treatment programs.”
