The expansive exercise, dubbed Air Defender 2023 (AD23), will be led by Germany and will take place primarily in that country but with additional operations in the Czech Republic, Estonia, and Latvia.

The exercise will give participants an opportunity to conduct operational and tactical-level field training in the region and bolster interoperability between the allied forces.

It is expected to involve Finland, which just joined NATO this month.
