(VOVworld) - A network of cultural cities in the framework of the Forum of East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC) will be set up to enhance mutual understanding and cooperation between the two regions. The decision was made at a just-concluded 2-day meeting of FEALAC members in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue.

Delegates approved a joint statement affirming the importance of culture to sustainable development in general and urban development in particular. They stressed the need of heritage preservation in the growing urbanization with local people playing a crucial role in preserving and promoting heritage values in urban areas and major cities. Participants shared experiences in promoting urban identities and spreading heritage values among the community.
