No Vietnamese casualties reported from Taiwan earthquakes

(VOVWORLD) -There has not been any information on casualties of Vietnamese people in the strong earthquakes and aftershocks that hit Taiwan (China) on Wednesday, said the Vietnam Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has directed the Vietnam Economic and Cultural Office to quickly contact local authorities and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Taiwan (China) to update the situation and to prepare prompt plans of action.

The Ministry has also asked Vietnamese representative agencies in Japan and the Philippines to prepare citizen protection plans as the local governments have issued tsunami warnings.

Vietnamese representative agencies in relevant areas will continue to keep a close eye on the situation, maintain contact with representatives of the Vietnamese communities, and be ready to deploy measures to protect Vietnamese citizens.
