The 6-day event will consist of a series of minister’s meetings and a summit. The attending diplomats will discuss regional integration in Africa and Latin America in today's multi-polar world, the new international economic and information order, and global security and human rights, under the slogan 'United on the Path to Peace'. The 120 member countries will reaffirm their commitment to the movement’s principles and purposes, examine the situation in the Middle East, and adopt a position regarding US interference in the internal affairs of progressive nations in Latin America.

Venezuela, who holds the group’s presidency until 2019, proposed that the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) persist in urging reform of the UN Security Council and the establishment of a legal instrument to prevent attacks on facilities dedicated to the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
