Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the talks are positive. Alexey Pushkov, head of the Russian State Duma committee for international relations, said the Normandy Four leaders may come up with a joint statement towards a ceasefire, which will lay a foundation for a national dialogue in Ukraine.
The German Foreign Ministry said the dialogue will take longer than expected, so German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has canceled his trip to South America to stay in Minsk.

The meeting opened Wednesday between Russian President Vladimir Putin, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, French President Francois Hollande, and German Prime Minister Angela Merkel.
