The Action Plan was signed by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, US President Barack Obama, and Mexico President Enrique Peña Nieto, detailing the goal and specific steps to promote clean energy, a green economy, and sustainable growth, increase competitiveness, and combat climate change via long-term partnership in the region.

The three leaders agreed that the continent’s electricity should be generated by clean sources by 2025. North America’s use of clean energy stands at roughly 37%. The three said they believe their counties have the capacity, resources, and determination to achieve the goal.

Also high on the agenda were military cooperation, immigration, Brexit’s impacts, and job generation for their citizens.
