The statement was made after demonstrations against Pyongyang took place in Soul on the day North Korea celebrated the 101st birthday of the country’s founder Kim Il-sung. North Korea’s KCNA News Agency quoted the country’s military supreme command as saying that North Korea’s military force would take any military action to protect the country’s supreme dignity.  The statement also demanded South Korea apologize for all of its previous major and minor hostile actions. South Korea's defence ministry called Tuesday's ultimatum "regrettable" while Pyongyang threatened Seoul through the mass media. South Korea’s Defence Ministry spokesman Kim Min-Seok said Seoul would retaliate thoroughly and resolutely to provocations staged for any reason.
