Party chief chairs key leaders’ meeting

(VOVWORLD) -Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on Wednesday chaired a key leadership meeting to evaluate the situation and work performance in April and May as well as work out future tasks.

The key leaders attending the meeting were President To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man, and permanent member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat Luong Cuong.

At the meeting, key leaders said that in the past two months, progress was made in socio-economic development, defense, security, foreign affairs, building the Party and political system, especially the successful organization of the 9th meeting of the Party Central Commitee and the 7th Session (phase 1) of the 15th National Assembly.

They emphasized the need to uplift the spirit of solidarity, unity, and effective direction of future tasks, citing global uncertainties, fierce competition between major countries, escalating conflicts, natural disasters, and epidemics, which will have a heavy impact on Vietnam.

Major tasks include boosting economic growth coupled with consolidating and maintaining macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation, ensuring major balances of the economy, and removing difficulties facing production and business.

It’s necessary to promote administrative procedure reform and digital transformation, prevent and control natural disasters, fires, explosions, floods, droughts, and saltwater intrusion, ensure traffic safety, security, and food safety, and ensure national defense and security, social order and safety, the meeting said.

Other tasks are effectively delivering foreign affairs, strengthening relations with major countries and partners, prioritizing and thoughtfully organizing foreign affairs events at home and abroad, maintaining a peaceful and stable environment for national development.

In addition, key leaders asked for good preparation of Party Congresses at all levels in anticipation of the 14th National Party Congress.
