Party chief marks 75th Traditional Day of Party’s diplomacy

(VOVWORLD) -General Secretary To Lam on Monday urged the Party Central Committee’s External Relations Commission to do a good job of advising and planning the Party's foreign policy in the new period, contributing to achieving the strategic goals of 100 years of the Party's leadership (1930-2030) and 100 years of founding the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (1945-2045).

The Party chief addressed a ceremony in Hanoi on Monday to mark the 75th Traditional Day of the Party’s External Relations Commission on November 1. He emphasized that the world is in an epochal change, with mounting global tensions and complexity. The fourth industrial revolution not only creates opportunities and advantages, but also poses great challenges to the cause of national construction and defense.

According to General Secretary Lam, the new situation poses new, very high requirements for planning and organizing the implementation of the Party's foreign policy and this is also the glorious task of the Commission.

“We must orient ourselves to strongly tap internal resources, take full advantage of opportunities and advantages, repel all risks and challenges, expand survival space, and increase resources for building and protecting the Fatherland. It’s imperative to develop the country in the context of deep international integration and enhance Vietnam's contribution and responsibility in world politics, global economy, human civilization and the world’s revolutionary movement.”

General Secretary To Lam suggested that the Commission continue to organize and effectively deploy the Party's foreign policy throughout the entire political system and country, bring into full play the dialectical relationship between Party diplomacy, State diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy, promoting Vietnam's participation and practical contributions to the international division of labor, global economic development and maintenance of peace and stability.

He stressed the need to constantly connect and deepen the relationship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and political parties, between Vietnam and peace-loving countries and peoples in the world. In particular, the Party's foreign affairs need to strongly spread "Vietnam's version of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation, friendship, development, prosperity, and happiness", according to the Party chief.
