Party General Secretary Nguyen Van Linh’s100th birth anniversary marked
(VOVworld) – Ho Chi Minh City’s People’s Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front in Ho Chi Minh city organized a workshop featuring Party General Secretary Nguyen Van Linh and his revolutionary career on Monday.
92 presentations at the workshop analyzed Nguyen Van Linh’s characteristics as a staunch and creative leader, his close relationship with Ho Chi Minh city’s Party Committee and people, and his inspiring patriotism and devotion. The participants reviewed his revolutionary career, contributions to the revolution and national reform, and his talented leadership. Former Vice President Truong My Hoa said: “Attending the workshop to mark the 100th birth anniversary of General Secretary Nguyen Van Linh, I’m moved to recall the time he supported and guided me in my career. General Secretary Nguyen Van Linh devoted his lifetime to the revolution and the Party. He was an excellent student of President Ho Chi Minh.”
Nguyen Van Linh, whose original name is Nguyen Van Cuc, was born on July 1, 1915 in Hung Yen. He joined the revolution when he was 14 and fought at the Sai Gon – Cho Lon battlefield during the war against the French and on the T4 Sai Gon – Gia Dinh battlefield during the war against the Americans. In December 1986 he was elected General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
