Party leader Trong received Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia and Vice Chairman of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) in Hanoi on Monday. He applauded Hun Manet's visit, which he said is contributing to creating a new milestone in Vietnam-Cambodia relations.

The General Secretary emphasized that the three countries of Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos are located on the Indochina peninsula, share the Truong Son range, drink the same water from the Mekong River, originate from the Indochina Communist Party, and have united and supported each other to overcome all difficulties.

He urged the two sides to effectively implement what was agreed to by senior leaders of the two Parties and the Cooperation Agreement at the 20th meeting of the Vietnam-Cambodia Joint Committee.

The agreement emphasizes that the government needs to direct ministries, sectors and localities to promote cooperation, share information and experiences, create breakthroughs in economic cooperation, strengthen connections between the two economies, and consolidate the pillar of defense and security cooperation, closely coordinate and support each other at global and regional forums.

Prime Minister Hun Manet said Cambodia will work with Vietnam to protect, preserve and nurture the relationship between the two countries to develop it to new heights and pass it on to future generations.

He affirmed that Cambodia will coordinate closely with Vietnam to effectively implement treaties and agreements between senior leaders of the two Parties and countries. These will contribute to preserving and strengthening solidarity relations between the two Parties, States and peoples as well as between the three Parties and countries of Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos, the Cambodian PM said.
