(VOVWORLD) - Sharing practical experience in international oil and gas projects and exploring future cooperation were the focus of a meeting held on Friday at the headquarters of the Vietnam National Industry-Energy Group (Petrovietnam).

The meeting was attended by Petrovietnam General Director Le Ngoc Son and Armel Simondin, Chief Executive Officer of French-British oil and gas company Perenco.
Son highly valued Perenco’s role as a long-term partner in implementing major oil and gas projects that contribute to Vietnam’s national energy security.
He noted that, alongside traditional energy sources, Petrovietnam is actively accelerating its energy transition toward sustainable and green development, in line with the Vietnamese Government’s orientation.

Petrovietnam is prioritizing research and investment in renewable energy, hydrogen, offshore wind power, liquefied natural gas, and carbon capture, utilization and storage, which are identified as strategic pillars for a new growth phase.
Petrovietnam’s leaders hope that Perenco will continue to work closely with Petrovietnam and its member units to expand cooperation, ensure the progress of ongoing projects, and jointly explore opportunities to develop new projects in the future.

Simondin affirmed that Perenco considers Petrovietnam a key strategic partner in the region and expressed his wish to further strengthen long-term cooperation, expand collaboration in existing projects, and seek new investment opportunities for mutual benefit.
