(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Monday stressed the requirement to make the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology a leading scientific and technological research organization in Southeast Asia by 2030.

During his working visit to the Academy, Prime Minister Chinh awarded it the First Class Labor Order. He said science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation are inevitable trends and important drivers for rapid and sustainable economic development of nations.

“The Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology needs to develop vigorously, confirm its role as the leading science and technology center in Vietnam, and gradually catch up with advanced countries in the region and the world,” he said.

PM Chinh proposed a 20-word motto, which is Elite intellect - Mastering technology - Strong transformation - Closely following the situation - Enabling the future.”

The Prime Minister requested the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology to take the lead in applying AI and big data to research and to build a national database on science and technology to serve policy planning.
