President chairs 4th meeting of National Defense and Security Council

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, who is Vice Chairman of the Council, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, Minister of Public Security General To Lam, Minister of National Defense General Phan Van Giang, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, and members of the Council's assisting agency attended the meeting.

President Thuong praised the military, police and diplomatic forces for successfully implementing political tasks and achieving several important results in various fields, in which foreign affairs were the highlights.

The President asked relevant forces and agencies to promote the achieved results and effectively implement the policies, guidelines and decisions of the Party Politburo, the Party Secretariat, the National Assembly, and the Government as well as the directions of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on defense, security, and foreign affairs, focusing on the Resolution of the 8th Plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee on the safeguarding the Fatherland in the new context, meeting the requirements of firmly defending national independence, sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, ensuring national security, maintaining social order and safety, and promoting comprehensive and extensive international integration.

The Council’s members also discussed the achievements in national defense and security, and foreign affairs, and the world situation and its impacts on Vietnam, as well as tasks for 2024.
