(VOVWORLD) -President Luong Cuong underscored the importance of “Tree Planting Festival” movement as he addressed the festival’s launching ceremony on Monday, the 7th day of the Year of the Horse, in Cam Duong ward, Lao Cai province.

President Cuong acknowledged many innovative and practical initiatives and methods implemented by ministries, sectors, localities, organizations, and individuals which have contributed to the effective implementation of the 1 billion tree planting project.
“I propose that all levels, sectors, and localities strengthen information dissemination and education, raise awareness of the role and significance of the “Tree Planting Festival” in line with President Ho Chi Minh's ideology. It should be linked to enhancing livelihoods, caring for people's lives, and building ecological landscapes."
"It’s necessary to effectively manage and utilize resources, protect the environment, and proactively respond to climate change. This strategic investment brings enormous and long-term benefits and a sustainable source of livelihood for each citizen,” he said.
President Cuong stressed the need to build a green economy and a circular economy, effectively participate in the global green value chain, and contribute to fulfilling Vietnam's net zero commitment by 2050.

On the same day, President Luong Cuong visited and extended New Year greetings to the Party Committee, administration, and people of Lao Cai province. Earlier, he offered incense to National Hero Tran Quoc Tuan at the Upper Temple in Lao Cai.
