President Trump criticizes Supreme Court decision, announces 10% global tariff

(VOVWORLD) -Responding to the Supreme Court's tariff ruling on Friday, US President Donald Trump strongly criticized the decision, calling it "deeply disappointing". Expressing dissatisfaction with some of the justices over the ruling, Trump said they “do not have the courage to do what is right for our country.”

The President said that he signed a global 10% tariff, according to a post on his Truth Social account, under Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974, a different law from the one that the court said did not grant him tariff authority.

"It is my Great Honor to have just signed, from the Oval Office, a Global 10% Tariff on all Countries, which will be effective almost immediately," President Trump said in the post.

The US Supreme Court ruled that President Donald Trump's trade policy exceeded his authority when imposing sweeping tariffs using a law reserved for a national emergency. The decision, made by a 6-3 vote, invalidates many significant tariffs that Trump has imposed on numerous countries since last year.
