President Truong Tan Sang: "It’s necessary to keep calm and use all peaceful means to solve the issue while remaining united"

He said that China’s placement of Haiyang-981 oil rig in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone had seriously violated the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea, and agreements reached between the two countries’ leaders. Sang reiterated the Vietnamese Party and State’s consistent policy of resolutely protecting national territorial integrity: "China’s placement of Haiyang-981 oil rig in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone has violated international law. We resolutely oppose this act. History has proven our national strength in protecting our national sovereignty. It’s necessary for us to keep calm and use all peaceful means to solve the issue while remaining united."
Sang acknowledged the voters’ opinions on the revised Laws, the supervision of corruption cases, the enumeration of assets, and the handling of voters’ specific complaints. He pledged to convey voters’ opinions to the NA and Ho Chi Minh municipal authorities as soon as possible.
