President Truong Tan Sang underlines healthcare as strategic task

(VOVworld) – President Truong Tan Sang on Sunday visited the Hue Central Hospital as part of his ongoing tour of the central region. Speaking at a ceremony to mark the Vietnamese Physicians’ Day on February 27, President Sang congratulated and praised the medical staff for their tireless efforts over the years. He said that the Vietnamese Party and State considers people’s health care a strategic task. The President also urged the healthcare sector to work harder to successfully carry out this task. “The sector needs to further consolidate the grassroots medical network and improve communal, district, provincial and central hospitals, using state budget and social resources. Public and private healthcare systems should be developed. Hospital overloads should be settled. Work ethics should be promoted. Efforts should be made to finalize policies on health insurance, healthcare for children, the elder citizens, the poor and policy beneficiaries. Vietnam’s medical sector needs to be built into an advanced sector in the region”.

President Sang also called on physicians to constantly improve their professional skills and work ethics to serve the people. On this occasion, he conferred the title “Labour Hero of the Renewal Period” to Doctor and People’s Physician Bui Duc Phu, who is also Director of the Hue Central Hospital.
