(VOVworld) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung is leading a delegation to attend the 7
th Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam Cooperation Summit and the 6
th Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategic Summit (AMECS) in Myanmar. His two-day visit from June 22 to June 23 is made at the invitation of Myanmar President Thein Sein. At the Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam Cooperation Summit, participants will review the implementation of 10 Mekong cooperation mechanisms, which are associated with bilateral cooperation and the promotion of sustainable growth in the Mekong sub-region. They will also discuss cooperation with partners such as the US, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and the Asian Development Bank in the formation and development of the ASEAN Economic Community.
At the Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Strategic Economic Cooperation Summit, participants will review the action program for the 2013-2015 period in the areas of industry, energy, tourism, trade, investment, agriculture, human resource development, transport connectivity, healthcare, social welfare, and the environment. They will also discuss priority projects, directions, and targets to boost cooperation with partners in the context of the ASEABN Community being formed by the end of the year.
Vietnam’s participation indicates its commitment to these cooperation mechanisms, to strengthening its leadership in Mekong cooperation, and consolidating its cooperation with other countries in the region.
