PM meets Vietnamese community as he begins official visit to Russia

(VOVWORLD) -The aircraft carrying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and a high-level Vietnamese delegation landed at Vnukovo-2 International Airport in Moscow on Sunday afternoon, beginning a four-day official visit to Russia.

The official welcoming ceremony for Prime Minister Chinh was held at the airport, chaired by Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrey Yurevich Rudenko.

Later in the evening, in Moscow, the Prime Minister met with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Russia.

He said that during the visit, in his meetings and discussions with high-ranking Russian leaders, he will ask that Russia recognize the Vietnamese community as a Russian ethnic minority and continue to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to increasingly have a solid legal status, stable lives, secure business, work, study, and integration. So that they will make more positive contributions to the economic, cultural, and social life of Russia, while playing a bridging role in further deepening relations between the two countries.

Emphasizing that the Vietnamese community abroad is an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation, Prime Minister Chinh stated that in recent years, the Party and State have always paid attention to protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the Vietnamese community abroad, supporting them in stabilizing their lives, integrating deeply into their host societies, and promoting the traditional identity of the Vietnamese nation.

During the visit, PM Chinh is scheduled to hold talks with his Russian counterpart Mikhail Mishustin and meet with President Vladimir Putin, Chairwoman of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matviyenko and Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.

He will receive veterans, representatives of the Russia–Vietnam Friendship Association, friends, and contributors to bilateral relations, as well as hold meetings with leaders of major Russian corporations and engage with Vietnam-Russia businesses.
