Public Security sector contributes to Vietnam’s achievements

(VOVworld) – The Party Committee of the Public Security Ministry’s sixth congress opened in Hanoi on Friday. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung asked the police force to renew its leadership methods, enhance the capacity of leaders, strengthen the staff’s capabilities and promote the sector’s key role in maintaining political security and social order and safety. He said: "The sector is asked to promptly analyze and forecast possible developments and consult the Party and State to ensure political, social order and security, the success of the 12th National Party Congress, to unveil any hostile forces’ plots to undermine Vietnam’s political security, and to contribute to national development and international integration."

He stated that the sector should create favorable conditions for people nationwide to promote their citizenship and rights of mastery in national construction and defense. He called on the sector to enhance cooperation with other nations’ public security, police, intelligence forces, and international organizations to fight crime and terrorism, and contribute to protecting regional and global security.

The congress is scheduled to review the performance of the ministry’s Party Committee, address shortcomings and causes, as well as learn the implementation of the Party Committee’s resolution in the previous tenure while devising a plan for the 2015-2020 period. The delegates will discuss and contribute ideas to draft documents of the Party’s upcoming 12th National Congress and elect representatives to attend the 12th National Party Congress. The event will close on Saturday.
