Quang Ngai treats fight against IUU fishing as urgent political task
(VOVWORLD) - Tinh Khe Commune in Quang Ngai Province held a ceremony on Sunday to launch the first fishing expedition of the new lunar year, a traditional ritual to wish for favorable weather and abundant catches.

The event also provided an opportunity for local authorities to promote awareness about combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
Do Tam Hien, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, emphasized the responsibility to protect national maritime sovereignty and affirmed that combating IUU fishing is an important and urgent political task with long-term significance for the sustainable development of the fisheries sector.
Quang Ngai currently has nearly 4,900 fishing vessels.
