(VOVworld) - The central province of Quang Tri has celebrated its 40^th liberation anniversary. Speaking at the ceremony in Dong Ha city on Tuesday, a member of the Politbureau and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Communications and Education Commission, Dinh The Huynh, highlighted the significance of the Quang Tri liberation operation in 1972, which forced the US to sign the Paris Convention and withdraw troops and paved the way for southern liberation and national reunification 3 years later.

A requiem to commemorate fallen soldiers in Quang Tri province

The provincial Party Secretary, Le Huu Phuc, praised the glorious victory in the fight to liberate Quang Tri and anti-counter attacks. Mr. Phuc said: “The victory created driving force for Quang Tri to enter a new era of development. Our prior task is to promote unity and creativeness while making full use of existing potential to promote educational, healthcare and cultural services.”
