Rockets land near air base housing US military experts in Iraq

(VOVWORLD) - Three rockets landed Monday outside the perimeter of an air base housing US military experts and agencies in Iraq's Anbar province, an Iraqi army source said.

The three rockets landed in the evening near the Ayn al-Asad Airbase near the town of al-Baghdadi, 190 km northwest of Baghdad, causing no casualties, an officer from Anbar Operations Command said on condition of anonymity.

After the attack, Iraqi security forces found the rocket launchers in an area outside the town of Haditha, about 210 km northwest of Baghdad, the source said.

Rockets and armed drones frequently target the Ayn al-Asad base. The last such incident on April 30 saw two rockets fall nearby without causing damage or deaths.
