Key topics for discussion include solutions to conflicts in the Middle East, a new global “security equation”, and the United Nations cooperation with regional organizations such as the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

In a press interview, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya outlined three significant events planned during Russia’s presidency. The first major event will be an open debate on multilateral cooperation to establish a more equitable, democratic, and sustainable world order, scheduled for July 16, where Russia will introduce the issue of a new global “security equation.”

Second, an open debate on resolving the Middle East situation is set for July 17. Both meetings on July 16 and 17 are expected to be chaired by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

And third, on July 19, a debate on cooperation between the United Nations and regional organizations, specifically the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), is scheduled as one of the three key events to take place during Russia’s presidency
