Russia criticizes Ukrainian president’s peace plan

(VOVworld) - Most of the provisions in Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko’s peace plan “look like an ultimatum” without a clause on negotiations, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Saturday, adding that this went against the April 17th Geneva agreement.

Lavrov expressed his concerns as Ukraine stepped up its military campaign at the same time with the announcement of President Poroshenko’s peace plan. He said that western countries had taken responsibilities to maintain stability in Ukraine and this should be carried out in certain steps.

The Russian Investigative Committee has declared Ukrainian interior minister Arsen Avakov and Dnepropetrovsk regional administration head Igor Kolomoisky internationally wanted, Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin told Interfax on Saturday. He added the investigation is taking measures to identify absolutely all individuals, both commanders and servicemen of the Ukrainian armed forces, the Ukrainian National Guard, and Right Sector fighters responsible for conducting the punitive operation against civilians in southeastern Ukraine, in which a large amount of civilians have been killed and injured.
