(VOVworld) - Russia is not seeking confrontation but will defend its national interests, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview with Swiss broadcaster RTS on Monday. Putin said Moscow desired a dialogue with the US and Europe on fighting terrorism, the situation in Ukraine and on economic issues.  He said he hoped that a new war on European territory was impossible and that European countries would conduct more independent policies as well as have the stamina to defend the interests of its own peoples and countries. Putin warned that the United States’ withdrawal from the ABM Treaty had triggered the current round in the arms race.
